Juan

Juan was born in Laredo and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, with his younger sister. He graduated from Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon, along with LifeSmiles’ team member, Marianita.

Juan’s new to Houston and really likes our cosmopolitan city. He had an interesting journey getting here. Before Dr. Mitchmore left for vacation in the spring, he said, “Hire me the best dental assistant.” We quizzed Marianita, “isn’t there anyone you know who you’d recommend?” She said, “of all the people I’ve worked and studied with, there is only one I would recommend.”

So, we convinced her to track him down. We soon learned he had just moved to San Antonio and accepted a position there. We had a little trouble convincing him to come to H-town for an interview, so we went to him.

Janie, Marianita and John loaded up and headed to the Alamo City determined to convince Juan this is where he belonged. By 7:00 p.m. we were in the middle of a Tejano Festival, waiting for a table at the busiest restaurant in the Old Market and getting to know Juan better.

By the end of the evening we had convinced Juan to come to Houston, just for a visit. The first visit went well; he jumped in right away and started pitching in. We had a match!

Others describe Juan as kind, smart, out-going and not “gastro-challenged”. He likes to eat and cook. His Mother taught him how and his favorite dish is her enchilada recipe.

Juan loves being a Dentist, meeting new people and making them feel welcome, comfortable and at-ease. He likes to learn all kinds of new things and that was his driving force to move to the States. He is fluent in Spanish and English. While earning his license to practice as a dentist in Texas, he is learning from Dr Mitchmore by working as one of his dental assistants. So we are all very fortunate to have this much talent and skill added to our team to serve our patients that expect the best.

If you can’t find Juan at LifeSmiles, you’ll see him working out at the gym or running. He also jumps at the chance to discover an icehouse and (a few) beers.
